Institute of Microbiology of the Ministry of Science and Education held a commemorative event dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy.

The participants of the event first observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide.

Speaking at the event, Director General of the institute, corresponding member of ANAS Panah Muradov said that the Khojaly genocide was one of the most terrible and tragic pages in the history of Azerbaijan. The scientist emphasized that the legal and political assessment of the tragedy was first given by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and on the initiative of the Great Leader, the Milli Majlis adopted a resolution on the “Day of the Khojaly Genocide” on February 24, 1994.

He noted that this act of genocide is one of the most serious crimes committed not only against the Azerbaijani people, but also against all humanity and mankind: "Khojaly is forever in our memory. The Azerbaijani Army avenged our martyrs within 44 days, the blood of the Khojaly victims did not remain on the ground. The Azerbaijani people, as a victorious people, are returning to their homeland, province, and village. Khojaly is being rebuilt, life is returning to Khojaly. Today, as a result of the tireless activity of our president, the Khojaly incident is being adequately assessed in many countries of the world."
