
General Director of MSE RA Institute of Microbiology was elected a full member of Asian Academy of Sciences at the General Assembly of the Academy, taking place in China.
On this occasion secretary of the Academy, Dr. Safi Asim Bin Asif sent a congratulary letter to newly elected members on behalf of Academician, Professor, Dr. President of Asian Academy of Sciences Elchin Khalilov.
The letter provides that the successful conclusion of this historic First General Assembly and election of the inaugural Academicians and Associate Members of the Asian Academy of Sciences is the momentous occasion heralds the dawn of a grand endeavour: the establishment of a Unified Academic and Intellectual Space of Asia (UAISA). The UAISA embodies a novel paradigm and philosophy for integration and collaboration among Asia's scholars. It is conceived as a unified realm, characterized by a benevolent, collegial, and intellectually stimulating environment dedicated to mutual scientific cooperation, the free exchange of ideas, and synergistic interaction. We are committed to cultivating the Asian Academy of Sciences into a unique community of like-minded peers and friends, united by a shared motivation and determination to shape the future trajectory of science and technology.
The General Assembly convened with the participation of 120 delegates representing a diverse array of nations, including: China; Russia (with representation from the Republic of Tatarstan, the Chechen Republic, the Republic of Dagestan, and the Republic of Bashkortostan); India; Japan; Turkey; Azerbaijan; Georgia; Kazakhstan; Tajikistan; Uzbekistan; Kyrgyzstan; Pakistan; as well as non-Asian nations: The United States; France; Greece; and Moldova.
The electoral process saw the participation of 95 delegates, constituting a robust 79% of the total delegate count. This high quorum threshold was satisfactorily met, and the Electoral Committee duly declared the elections valid and binding.
The Assembly proceeded to elect the Academy's governing leadership, comprising the President, Vice-Presidents, Secretary-General, and Members of the Presidium. Furthermore, elections were held for the Deputy Chairs of the Scientific Council, the Chairs of various Committees, and the Heads of Scientific Sections. The Assembly also ratified the election of Full Members (Academicians), Associate Members (Corresponding Members), and Institutional Members of the Academy.
